What is your favourite self help book and why? This is a tricky one, but I think I will have to go for The Alchemist – although not a traditional self-help book it has taught me many lessons over the years such as following your dreams, living in the moment and how the treasures of life are not material. It keeps drawing me back to read again and reflect on different aspects in my life. The other one is the wonderful Matt Haig’s Reasons to Stay Alive. I love the way he writes so openly about his experiences and it is heart breaking, funny, sad and inspiring at the same.

Why did you want to start a meetup? I have been a big fan of self-help books for a while now, and when I heard about Shelf Help club on a podcast I knew straight away that I wanted to get involved. I am really passionate about the vision of clubs and how we can support each other to live better lives. We live in a mad world with lots of negativity and I want to create an opportunity to get together and hopefully inject a little bit of calm into our busy lives.

And what can people expect at your events? People can expect a welcoming, relaxed and safe environment. It will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and learn from the books and one another. Above all it will be a non-judgemental space for people to get together and hopefully leave feeling inspired and empowered (and have a few giggles along the way)
