This month, we'll discuss The Urban Monk by Pedram Shojai (subtitle: Eastern Wisdom and Modern Hacks to Stop Time and Find Success, Happiness and Peace).
An ordained priest and Taoist monk, Shojai "brings the ancient wisdom of the East down to earth for regular people."
I love the format, which includes a case study, an analysis of a problem and a combination of solutions for most modern issues, including:
* not enough time/energy/sleep/money
* low self-esteem
* high stress levels, and
* being stuck in a rut
And the book includes LOADS of brilliant, usable tips that are based in the East but translated for those of us just trying to do our best and sometimes watch less Kardashians in the West.
Reading the book before the meetup is encouraged (of course!), but not essential. We'll cover key quotes and themes and discuss how we can learn to stop time, refuel, and focus on the things that really matter, even among the chaos.
This event will be co-hosted with Shelf Help East ambassador Julie Blake.
Tickets are £7 OR 2 for £10 (so you can bring a friend) and include one glass of wine or a soft drink of your choice.
